What a reviewed guide looks like

Why we bring in someone from outside.

Most of what we write, we know first-hand. We are French, we live here, and we run these procedures every week. Money is the exception. A wrong detail on a visa checklist costs you a trip back to the préfecture. A wrong assumption about PFIC rules, treaty relief or French succession law costs you thousands, and you may not find out for years. So on those guides we do not rely on ourselves alone.

How the review works

We write it

The guide is researched and written by Maxime or Aurelio, sourced from official French and US government material, and linked so you can check.

An expert reads it

A credentialed professional reads the full guide and flags anything factually wrong, out of date, or misleading by omission.

We fix it

We correct what they flag. Where we disagree, we work it out until it is resolved, or we cut the claim entirely.

We date it

The guide goes live with the reviewer's name and the date of the review, both visible under the byline.

We do it again

When the rules move, a new finance law, a treaty change, a new threshold, the guide goes back for review and the date updates.

Who reviews our guides.

Credentialed professionals, named, with a verifiable registration number and a defined scope. If someone is not qualified on a topic, they do not sign off on it.

Shane co-founded EuroAmerican Financial Advisors, a cross-border advisory firm working with Americans in 16 EU countries, including France. What a review is not.

A second name under the byline should mean something precise. Here is exactly what it does not mean.

They do not write our guides

Every guide is researched and written by our own team. A reviewer reads what we produced; they do not produce it.

They have no editorial control

Reviewers flag facts. The angle, the structure and the recommendations stay ours, and so does the responsibility for them.

It is not advice for your situation

A review confirms a guide is accurate in general. It is not financial, tax or legal advice for you specifically. For that, you need a professional looking at your own file.

It does not cover the whole site

Only guides carrying a reviewer's name and a review date have been reviewed. Everything else is ours alone.

We say the same thing on every reviewed guide and on every reviewer profile. If any of it changes, this page changes first.
