What French customs says
The quantities of medication you carry must not exceed personal use. Customs defines personal use as the treatment duration on the prescription or, without a prescription, three months of treatment. Above personal use, importing is absolutely prohibited.1
For a medication that is neither a narcotic nor a psychotropic, from any country, the quantity matches the prescribed duration or, failing that, three months. The prescription does not have to be produced, unless the treatment is longer than three months.1
Narcotic and psychotropic medications can only be imported if you carry them yourself. The quantity must fit your personal therapeutic use for the duration the prescription states or, failing that, one month under normal conditions of use.1
The papers depend on where you come from. From a Schengen country, a certificate issued by the competent authorities of that country is mandatory. From a country outside Schengen, the doctor's prescription must be produced.1
